Another Blog Bites The Dust

Okay, this is it, the last blog post for Tripping With Marty! I went through a lot with this blog. I started it when my job moved out of state, then tried different formats as I looked for work in New York City. My last few months in New York were kind of depressing for me and this blog really helped get me through those months. As did all you fine people who read it and those of you who leave great comments. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart! This was the one constant thing I had in my life for a while and I truly appreciate those of you who supported it and read it.

This is my fourth blog I’ve done and every one has been an adventure unto itself.
Every blog I seem to meet new people and make new friends and my new one is starting next week, on Monday, December 10th. I have some ideas for it, but as usual, they’re broad strokes and I’ll be winging it as always. Thanks again, everybody and I hope to see you next week!

P.S. This post is going up super early because I have to work the dreaded day shift a couple days this week. I’ll comment back when I get home later tonight. Happy Monday, Happy Birthday, Happy The Clown and Happy Rockefeller!

There she goes, there she goes again,
She calls my name, pulls my train,
No-one else could heal my pain.

Bonus Photo of Terry by Gene!

Speaking of meeting friends through these blogs, I met and have become great friends with three people from Baltimore collectively known as the BBC (Baltimore Bar Crawlers).
Indivdually they are are Gene, Smoopy and Terry. Recently on one of their bar crawls (they usually travel to about 590 bars in one night and have over 26,000 drinks between the three of them), Gene snapped this photo of Terry sporting the legendary 365 bars t-shirt that “Boris” designed. Here’s what Gene sent along with the photo:

“Terry sporting the 365 colors in Baltimore tonight. We're at the famous Ledbetters Tavern in Fells Point. It would be on Al's list !”

Thanks for the photo, Gene! We need to time a trip to New York as soon as I get vacation time at my new job! See you all next Monday at the new blog, the link will be posted here! Have a gravy week!

Weekly Update

Okay, time for my little update here. I know these posts haven’t been too exciting, but I’ve been so busy getting settled into Peoria I just don’t have much time for this right now. I really appreciate those of you who have been stopping by and commenting, it means a lot to me and I promise my new blog will be lot more fun. Speaking of my new blog, I’m going to start it on Monday December 3rd, so mark that on your calendar, if you have one. If you don’t have a calendar, then write it on your forehead and send me a photo and that’ll be next weeks post. I finished one week of work, and while I never blog about work, I will say it went very well and I’m working with some really nice and cool people. It’s a totally different kind of job than I had in New York and I really like it. It’s nice having a job that you don’t dread going in to. I’ve started fixing up my place and when I start my new blog I’ll give you a full tour, but here’s a few teaser shots of my new place for now.

It's in the fridge, Daddy-O. Are you hip to the jive?

Here's my entertainment center, Patty Smyth is now playing. Note the Sham Wow dolls below, created by my friend, Ash. They're very happy to be in Peoria.

This is my desk and writing area. I'm currently writing a story about leaving New York that will be up on the first post of my new blog that's going to debut December 3rd.

And here's my new favorite thing in the world, the ice machine in my building.

I don't know why this thing makes me happier than anything, but it does and that's a good thing.

Okay, I have to do some things and then get ready for work, so I’ll see you here next week. Have fun!

Bonus Photo From Gidget!

The world’s coolest DJ, Gidget, sent me this photo that really cracked me up. No one else except “Boris” will get the joke and that’s part of what I love about it! And speaking of Gidget and “Boris”, don’t forget to check out their wonderful radio show on Woody Radio, the “Secret Weapon”. “Boris” picks the tunes and Gidget spins them, it’s the best radio show in the world, tune in and turn on!

Sandy

Okay, I’ve decided to start my new Peoria blog the first week of December. I start my new job a week from today and I want to get settled in to that before I start blogging. Till then I thought I’d update this blog on every Monday up till the first week of December. These are just going to be mini posts, as I don’t want to do full-fledged Peoria blogs till the new one goes up.

By now we’ve all heard plenty about Hurricane Sandy.
It’s supposed to be hitting New York today and I wish all my friends there good luck and safety. It reminded me of Hurricane Tropical Storm Irene, that landed in New York over a year ago. Here’s some links to my reporting on that:

Looking For A Flashlight

The Food Emporium

Old Town Bar

McSorley’s

Once again, I hope this is a somewhat “false” alarm like Hurricane Tropical Storm Irene was a year ago.

On a totally different note, I’m really liking my new apartment and will post photos of it when the new blog goes up in December, but in the meantime, check this out...

They have an ice machine here on the ground floor. It makes me feel like I'm living in a hotel!

And two grills outside that everyone can use. I can’t wait to make a cheeseburger on one of them! Best wishes to all my friends in New York, be safe and batten down your hatches!
