A Cheesy Moment At McSorley's

It's time for a snack, let's check out the menu!

I decided on the small cheese plate and I've moved to the bar. There's the legendary McSorley's mustard.

It's really tasty and really spicy.

Gumby's relaxing down at the footrail.

The bar is starting to fill up a little bit.

And here it is, the cheese and crackers plate. Ta-da! (To quote Biff!)

Delicious! I hope it brings back memories to Martin! See you in a bit. When I come back we'll take a little tour of the joint!

There are baseballs on the left side of the chalkboard menu. Can you find out their significance?

gotta watch out for that mustard, it'll blow you right out if you're not careful.

Looks like Gumby is pumping some iron!

@Marty
Oh Man, that looks good!

You’ll get a kick out of this
In 1968 after a Traffic show at the Fillmore my friends and I went to McSorley’s tripping our faces off on "Orange Sunshine"

Yeah, I’m old…..now get off my lawn!

I have been following all day:)
just not commenting yet..
I am seriously thinking about stepping on Martin's lawn..
and kicking his cane out from under him!
but first i need to drink more coffee and find some fucking crackers and cheese.

I second "spotcolors" question .....

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGENE

@spotcolors: They didn't know, they've been there forever is what I was told.

@legitimate beef: I hear you, I always put too much on the first cracker and blow my brains out!

@Mykola Mick Dementiuk: You're right about the mustard, hotter than hell, but tasty!

@Bruce Davis: I'll take care of that tonight!

@Martin: Too cool! I loved orange sunshine back in the day and Traffic too! Bet that was a good show!

@Gidget: Glad you're following along! Please be nice to Martin, he's new here and I bet he doesn't have a cane. Plus he just commented how nice everyone is here!

@GENE: They won't tell me!

@Marty – How many beers so far?

@Gidget – Too funny

@legitimate beef – I always got a kick out of watching the uninitiated putting a BIG dollop of that mustard on cheese, and seeing them go bright red

I'll be nice to martin.. I like him already..
i just want to step on his lawn.. i like to do what i am told to not do:)
plus that is an awesome movie..
ok what is orange sunshine?
and was it any good?

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGidget

@Martin: I've had about eight, but I'm pacing myself, I'll leave when the crazy crowd gets here!

@Gidget: Glad to hear you're going to be nice to Martin! Orange sunshine was acid and yes, back in the day it was good!

February 2, 2012 | Registered CommenterTripping With Marty

@Gidget – “i like to do what i am told to not do” That’s the spirit!

Orange Sunshine was very strong acid on a large (for acid) orange tab; it was the benchmark all others were judged against, so yeah it was good.

They are probably like Babe Ruth home run balls and worth a billion dollars .....

PS Marty ..... the new Van Halen album comes out Tuesday -- but it was released in Australia today --- and this guy has uploaded the whole album to You Tube. If you know the track listing to A Different Kind of Truth -- you can play the whole album in order !

Wake up, go out drinking. No worries everyone. Our intrepid adventurer is loading up on a hearty meal of crackers.

They had me at "hash!" Although a four dollar liverwurst don't sound bad either. Also, I'm pleasantly surprised that they serve their cheese with onions. So, is that white American or cheddar?

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBiff

@Martin: Agreed about the orange sunshine, good times!

@GENE: Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

@csp: I'm living up to the name Sam Wong used to call me!

@Biff: It was like a combination of American and cheddar, very tasty!

@MAD: You are what you eat. That's why everyone calls me P-U-
-mpkin.

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercsp

@csp: And leave off the last Sf for savings! (I have no idea what that means!

Interesting that both the ham and the ham and cheese sandwiches were the same price.

Both would probably go good with a chaser of orange sunshine. LOL.

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDaveW

I Love the dark beer myself, never had any food there, that cheese plate looks good. I don't know about having chili with beer though.

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDanny

@DaveW: That is funny about the sandwiches! And I wish I would've had a chaser of orange sunshine! Although there may not have been a blog tomorrow if I did!

@Danny: The cheese plate is good, something about Saltines, hot mustard, onions and cheese in a classic NYC bar that just feels and tastes perfect! And your right about the chili and cheese, that's a dangerous combination!
