Tom's Restaurant

The last stop of my Seinfeld Day had to be at the corner of 112th and Broadway, where, in the show, Monk's Cafe is located.

And here it is, I tried to duplicate the shot so it would mirror the way it appears on Seinfeld.

In reality, the name of the diner is, Tom's Restaurant. In addtiion to Seinfeld, it's also famous for this Suzanne Vega song. Let's go in, I'm starving!

And here's our booth, no Jerry or George here, but we do have Gumby!

I wanted to get something that would be Seinfeldesque, at first I was going to get a big salad in honor of Elaine, but then I saw it...

A gyro! Perfect! And it was delicious!

On the way out, I saw a painting of Kramer in the window. A fitting last photo for a Seinfeld day. Giddy up!

I'm not clicking the Vega link. I'm not hip-hop enough. (And I don't want that crap in my head for days.)

@csp: I can't believe how many people have sampled that song! I wonder if she gets royalties from all of those?

I saw Suzanne Vega at the Sidewalk Cafe a few years ago. She was great and of course played Tom's Diner!

A Seinfeld tribute that does not have a Chinese Restaurant - what would James Hong say? Probably Cartwright Four!

A great Jason Alexander story he told on a talk show: Apparently as a somwhat misguided young actor he thought William Shatner was a great thespian to be emulated and when he auditioned for a spot in a college drama dept. he did a Shakesperian monologue in the style of Captain Kirk. After he was finished there was dead silence in the room and then the head of the drama dept. spoke up, unbeknowist to Mr. Alexander at the time, the gentleman was Shatner's roomate when they did summer stock together years before. He stated something to the effect of "Young man I don't know if you can act, but that is the best Bill Shatner impersonation I've ever seen."
